Redruth’s Local Beaches

There are many beaches across Cornwall, but here are some beautiful option close to Redruth.

Redruth's beaches

Portreath Beach

Location: 1 Battery Hill, Portreath, Redruth TR16 4NR

Distance from Redruth:

  • 13 – 16 minute drive
  • 45 – 1hr bus/ train ride

Dog walking:

  • Dogs allowed – Except between 10am -6pm, August and July

Parking:

  • Lady Basset’s Baths
  • The Pepper Pot

Porthtowan Beach

Location:  Porthtowan, Truro TR4 8AW

Distance from Redruth:

  • 14 – 17 minute drive
  • 23 – 1hr bus / train ride

Dog walking:

  • Dogs are allowed on Porthtowan Beach between 1st October and 14th May. Dogs are NOT allowed between 10am and 6pm from 15th May to 30th September.

  • Porthtowan Tidal Pool/Rockpool
  • Gullyn Rock
  • Felicity Cove

With access to Lushington Beach

You can only access Lushington Beach when the tide is out and walk across from Porthtowan beach. Same goes for parking, you need to park in Porthtowan. Please be mindful of high-tide and low-tide times whenever walking along any beach.

Gwithian Beach / Three-Miles of Golden Sands

Hayle is famous for having “three miles of golden sands”, and this is no exaggeration. It’s a short walk down to the estuary from North Quay, and this leads you round to the first stretch of beach, Hayle Beach.

Distance from Redruth:

  • 20- 30 minute drive
  • 1hr 5min – 1hr 15min  bus / train ride

Dog walking:

  • Dogs are allowed on Hayle- see beach sign for times of year

  • Peter’s point
