What a night to remember at the Specsavers Local Hero Awards 2024! A heartfelt THANK YOU to the sponsors, our Redruth councillors, award winners, and their families who gathered at the Penventon Park Hotel on the 26th April, to celebrate the local heroes in our community.
We must take a moment to thank the generous support of our sponsors, who enabled us to honour some outstanding members of our community. This year we had the highest number of nominations to date; so many deserving people, businesses, community groups and neighbours, that all warrant an award.
The evening kicked off with a warm welcome message delivered by Richard Woods from Rewind Radio, thanking the Penventon team for treating us all to a delectable two-course dinner. We must also applaud Fluxus Cornwall for making our interactive clapping centre pieces which brought much entertainment into the room. We were fortunate to have Richard Woods and Theresa Mellor from Rewind Radio as our hosts for the evening.

What an amazing cast of winners, all so deserving and true heroes of our community. This testament was reiterated by Town Mayor Cllr Stephen Barns as well as Redruth Council’s new Town Clerk, Charlotte Caldwell who both spoke highly of the winners.
After that, what better way to send the night off with a bang was a heart dance around the dance floor, thanks to the amazing tunes provided by DJ Ryan Woods from Rewind Radio.
The evening was a great success and we are already planning for next year.
