National Windrush Day

Saturday 8th June

On 22 June 1948, over 1,000 people arrived in the UK from the West Indies on board the MV Empire Windrush. Known as the ‘Windrush Generation’, they helped rebuild the nation following the Second World War, where families and descendants made immeasurable contributions to public services and the NHS.

We are a diverse community group based in Cornwall that promotes and supports inclusion, culture, and equality for children, adults and organisations. Through youth engagement, educational partnerships, and cultural fusion events, we aim to help build a culturally inclusive Cornwall where everyone can feel safe and welcome. These events create a welcoming and kind community for one and all to develop a shared sense of belonging. Common features in all of our events are music, food and conversation.
