The Treasures of Kresen Kernow

To mark the tenth anniversary of the Cornish being recognised as a national minority, we have chosen some treasures from our library and archive collections that link to the themes of Cornish distinctiveness identified in a 2014 report. The themes include our landscape, food, religion, politics, sport, culture and traditions.
Come and see some very rare and very tiny books, our oldest documents relating to pasties and an award winning map!

Join us in June to see the Redruth Brewery Community Exhibition of Redruth Brewery bottles, presented by the Cornish Bottle Archive.
Explore the largest collection of Redruth Brewery bottles, temporarily back in their original home. If you haven’t seen it already, come and explore the old brewery building too and see how it’s become the home of Cornwall’s archives and local studies collections.

Redruth’s D-Day Celebrations
Thursday 6th June
Redruth Town Council is proud to announce that we will be hosting a series of commemorative events on the 80th anniversary of D-Day – 6th June 2024. The Second World War, and one in which millions of allied personnel from dozens of modern-day nations were engaged across the globe.
We will have:
- 8am Clock Tower proclamation
- 8.30pm Commemoration followed by the lighting of the Lamp of Peace at 9.15pm
To honour those who participated in one of the most pivotal moments of World War II, we invite members of our community to contribute if they can. Whether you have photos, stories, or personal accounts of D-Day, we encourage you to share them with us.

National Windrush Day

On 22 June 1948, over 1,000 people arrived in the UK from the West Indies on board the MV Empire Windrush. Known as the ‘Windrush Generation’, they helped rebuild the nation following the Second World War, where families and descendants made immeasurable contributions to public services and the NHS.
We are a diverse community group based in Cornwall that promotes and supports inclusion, culture, and equality for children, adults and organisations. Through youth engagement, educational partnerships, and cultural fusion events, we aim to help build a culturally inclusive Cornwall where everyone can feel safe and welcome. These events create a welcoming and kind community for one and all to develop a shared sense of belonging. Common features in all of our events are music, food and conversation.
