Last Friday night, we gathered in the stunning ballroom at the Penventon Park Hotel to celebrate the winners of the Specsavers Redruth Local Hero Awards. In this the first year of the Awards, there were six categories and all the winners were in the room to receive their award from their respective sponsors.
The evening began with a welcome message from Town Mayor Cllr Matthew Brown before the Penventon team served us all with a delicious three course dinner. Once coffee had been served, it was time for the main event and we were lucky that Jamie Reed and Richard Woods from Rewind Radio were on hand to compere the evening so expertly.

As soon as the Awards part of the evening was finished, the celebrations continued with Richard taking his place behind the DJ booth and Cornwall Entertainment getting the just-for-fun Blackjack and Roulette tables going.
Overall the evening was a great success and we are already planning for next year. We would like to thank all the sponsors – Specsavers Redruth, The Penventon Park Hotel, Ewemove, Redruth & Camborne Lions, Redruth & District Chamber of Commerce and Control Print – and our generous supporters – Rewind Radio, Cornwall Entertainment and Keith Larby from AK Photos – without whom we wouldn’t have been able to organise such a great evening.
