Wastelands to Wonderland Residency

Artist Vicki Aimers will be bringing her Wastelands to Wonderland Residency to Redruth Library.

A series of events both half-day and full sessions for children and adults will be hosted in Redruth Library. This will include an interactive exhibition about the life and ideas of Catherine Payton Phillips (Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosities/nature table) and the importance of caring for our environment and the need to plant trees, especially fruit trees to feed communities.

Residency timetable

Monday 12th June 10am – 4pm – Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosity

Tuesday 13th June 10am – 4pm – Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosity and School activity

Wednesday 14th June 10am – 4pm – Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosity

Thursday 15th June 10am – 4pm – Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosity and adult creative workshop.

Participants can make a nature inspired gathering pocket tableaux using preloved fabrics and exploring fabric image transfer and narrative stitch.

There are 10 places available at £10 each – book via the library by emailing or calling 0300 1234 100.

If there is a waiting list, Vicki can always run a session later this year.

Friday 16th June 10am – 4pm – Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosity

Saturday 17th June 10am – 2pm – Catherine’s Cabinet of Curiosity and Murdoch Day familiy activity.

“I’m an Orchard Explorer” – the children will learn how to make a botanical sketchbook, discover the world of botanical illustrations and use magnifying glasses to draw what they see. They will also learn about the bio-diversity of an orchard through drawing, painting and writing.

A section of the A30 and part of the A390 will be closed from 8pm Friday 16 June – 6am Monday 19 June 2023. Please check the diversion routes before travelling – A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross | National Highways
