We’re re-imagining the ancient tradition of welcoming the changing seasons. For hundreds of years Redruth celebrated with a May Fayre on the 2nd.
We begin dancing at dawn on top of Carn Brea, making our musical way down to the town where we will dress local buildings and businesses with greenery, inviting the whole community to join the Maypole dance.

Kick off the summer with a night at one of the coolest venues in Kernow and one of Cornwall’s finest DJ’s MODIR bringing us a night of classic Soul, Funk and Disco to dance the night away with your friends till the wee hours.
Two floors and a garden if it’s not raining. There will be security as per usual with our events so you can relax and have a great hassle free evening.

Scary Little Girls: Mayven Festival – Feminist as Folk Cabaret

The Mayven Festival is back (10th – 17th May 2024), bringing fabulous feminist fun to venues, spaces and places across Cornwall from the 10-18th May 2024! We will be taking over venues across Cornwall, bringing a folk theme to this year’s spring offering. A jam-packed night with performances from queens of the scene at the Ladder, Redruth:
- Carolyn Francis with her range of instruments & loop pedal
- Frankie Armstrong (‘one of the most compelling and beautiful of the folk voices of Britain’ The Telegraph)
- Angeline Morrison (‘She masters the precision of storytelling as well as its poetry’ The Guardian)
- Rising star Flo Perlin (‘Utterly captivating and instantly endearing’ Radio 6)
- Local music legends forming new Nos Lowen band TANEK to get you dancing!
All hosted by Glastonbury’s Bunny Morethan (aka Rebecca Mordan) and suffused with poems, sketches, comedy and feats of the fabulous from Scary Little Girls’ Radical Rep and Cirque du Ciel in an unforgettable evening that’s Feminist as Folk!

Camborne and Redruth’s Pride Parade
The march aims to be civil, peaceful, safe and enjoyable for all. We are pleased to welcome a number of local organisations and their representatives who will be marching together with Cornwall Pride showing their love and support. The march can get very crowded and lively but it is good fun. There will be music and celebration as we march to show support for LGBTQ+ people in Camborne , Cornwall and around the world.

Tricky’s Tea Dance featuring The Ritzy Belles

Between 2-4pm we will have the female vocal trio ‘The Ritzy Belles’ singing in the style of 1940s, 50s and 60’s.
Free entry, free parking.
Hopefully the sun will be shining and this will be held in the Gardens of the lodge. If not it will be held inside the beautiful Garden Room.
Some seating will be available, but please feel free to bring own chairs and blankets.

Trevince Open Garden

Trevince is kindly throwing open its gates to help raise vital funds for Cornwall Heritage Trust.
Taking place on Sunday 12th May from 10.30am – 4pm, this is a fantastic day out for all the family with garden tours, and a fun-filled trail for little ones. Visit Trevince to enjoy a wonderful day out and support the work of Cornwall Heritage Trust, the independent charity whose mission is to protect Cornwall’s unique landscapes, traditions and communities. Free garden tours by Richard Stone, the owner, will be available at 11am and 3pm. These can be signed up to on the day and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Ticket prices are £6 if pre-booked online and £7.50 on the door. Under 12s go free and do not require booking. Online booking will close at 12noon on the Friday before the event. There’s something for all the family, including a fun-filled trail to keep the little ones busy during your visit. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Cakes and refreshments will be available. Cut flowers and wildlife friendly plants from the Wild Botanic Flower Farm will also be on sale. Last entry will be one hour before closing time.

The Coast to Coast Copper Trail
Saturday 18th May 2024
An 11.5 Mile trail run from Portreath on the North Coast of Cornwall all the way across to Devoran Quay on the South Coast! There is no cut off time for this event. We will have one checkpoint for you at the Fox & Hounds at Scorrier, where our lovely staff will be waiting to supply you with fluids and salt & sugar snacks!
This way marked trail follows two historic transport routes across Cornwall first opened in 1812, helping the mines transport copper to the ports of Portreath & Devoran. The race will start 9am on Portreath beach.
Registration will be open from 7.30am in Portreath Surf Lifesaving Club. All runners will receive a Coast-to-Coast Copper trail medal & there will be awards for the top male & female finishers! This event will be timed & runners will be issued with a map to assist them on race day. All runners must be carrying fluid & a mobile phone.

Treys Lowen – Cornish Dance Sessions

Treys Lowen means ‘Happy Feet’ in the Cornish language. These folkie fundays are family friendly sessions suitable for all ages and abilities. Come and explore Cornwall’s rich folk music and dance traditions, get active and have fun!
