FREE – Bug Hunt in East End Park

Thursday 1st August  2024

Come to East End Park this summer for a guided hunt by Buglife for all the creepy crawlies! You can expect facts, fun and more!
It’s Free to attend, no need to book – just come over and say hello! Families welcome with children of all ages.

Seaquest Southwest Public Sea Watch

Saturday 3rd August  2024

Join wildlife experts and enthusiasts to see the incredible marine megafauna around our coast. Meeting point: Look out for our blue hi-vis jackets and flags!

Seaquest Southwest will be taking part in the Sea Watch Foundation’s NWDW by putting on public sea watches. Join dedicated recorders and other Seaquest volunteers at these sea watches, happening county-wide for this national event organised by the Sea Watch Foundation. This event aims to give a general snapshot of what is in UK coastal waters over a short time. As well as gaining valuable research data, we hope this will draw attention to conserving our marine environment.

When you attend this event, please bring suitable warm layers of clothing and weather-dependent equipment like suncream, hats, water, and snacks if you get peckish!

Illogan Parish Fair

Saturday 3rd August  2024

There is much to see and do with exhibitions, entertainment and activities spread over several connecting venues. It’s free entry to the fair with all profits being distributed to local good causes.
If you want to raise funds for your charity or group, download and complete the charity stallholder form. If you want a stall for your business then we have a few pitches remaining. Again if you download and complete the form we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
We are hoping to provide something for everyone this year. We have the Illogan Horticultural and Domestic Show over in Illogan Village Hall, stalls, music, Nature Walks at Maningham House, Crafts and Pastimes exhibitions and a local history exhibition at the Old School Centre with homemade cakes and savouries at the Old School Centre, Parish Church and Maningham House. It’s not too late to get involved. If you want to help out or bring along something to exhibit – get in touch. Phone 01209 843845

Singing Group For Adults – The Ladder

Come and explore the use of tone, range and dynamics of your voice in this friendly group singing workshop. All are welcome.

Led by music leader Rachel Carter, this session will introduce singing exercises, acapella rounds and a two-part whole song which can be performed at the end. Rachel has a passion for community group music-making.

Falmouth University and Cornwall Libraries are back again this summer offering a week of arts workshops for young people aged 10-16.
Sessions are free of charge and will be run by Falmouth University’s Outreach Team and library staff members. Spaces are limited and offered first come, first served (maximum 15 people per workshop).
In Redruth Library we will be holding a Lino Printing workshop for young people aged 10-16 years old on Tuesday 13th August 10:00-12:00. Please note booking is required.
