Jubilee Celebrations in Redruth
Join us for a right ‘Royal Knees Up’ in Redruth and celebrate our Queen’s 70th anniversary year of reign. There’s lots of fun events and workshops going on in and around town, we hope you can join us.
Refashioning workshops
Make A Mends – all-day drop-in workshops on Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st May. Bring an item of clothing with you and the team will help you refashion it into either a ’50s style or just something red, white and blue. Free to all 11am to 4pm
Ringroses – head to Ringrose Fabric in West End on 18th May from 5pm, 25th May from 11am or 1st June from 11am to join Mati’s Stitch and Soup Group – create your Jubilee outfits, chat, eat soup and pay what you can afford.
Keep an eye out in the town’s charity shops for specially themed clothing they’ve kept aside for the Jubilee.

The Redruth Highway Hub are hosting a community Tea Party on Thursday 2nd June at their hub in Mount Ambrose, from 10am – 2pm all are welcome. https://redruthhighwayhub.co.uk/

Friday 3 June | 1pm-4pm | The Elms, Redruth. Groceries and 1-1 support to people experiencing hardship
On Friday 3rd June Redruth Community Centre will be hosting a Jubilee Afternoon Cream Tea from 2.30pm.
There will be Homemade cakes and a cuppa only £1, a sale table/rail and tombola, mini-bingo @3.30pm, pasties at 5pm (but pre-order is required) and a Friday night Bingo session from 7pm.
Saturday 4th: Join the Engagement Team from Redruth Town Council and the Redruth and Camborne Lions for a street party on Alma Place. We’ll have a fun and relaxed day celebrating the Queen’s 70-year reign with refreshments, cakes and hot food available to purchase or bring a picnic. Optional 1950’s or Red, White and Blue themed dress code, live music and a Jubilee Market in Market Strand, Market Hall and the Buttermarket. Not forgetting, there will be family crafts and games!
In the evening there will be Red, White and Blue smoking of Wheal Uny Engine House Chimneys to close the Jubilee Celebrations in Redruth – timings and details tbc.
There’s also a family fun day Redruth Rugby Club from 11am, with Rudi’s Message playing at 6.30pm.

Krowji are hosting a summer fete over the Jubilee week with some musical performances, outside catering with ice cream and sandwiches and cold drinks from Stones Krowji as well as their indoor cafe offering for hot drinks and the usual menu. Planning is still underway with details coming soon.
As part of the Cornwall Open Studio Event, around 50 tenants will be taking part in the Krowji Summer Open Studios – running from 28th May to 5th June as part of the wider Open Studios Cornwall initiative.
Fun Fact: Her Majesty has owned more than 30 Corgis and Dorgis during her reign, most of which have been descended from her first Corgi, Susan, who was gifted to her on her eighteenth birthday in 1944.
