Ever fancied learning Cornish? Kresen Kernow, home to thousands of archives full of rich Cornish History are helping to keep the language alive by hosting free monthly Cornish Language drop-ins.
There’s no need to book, so it is perfect for beginners who might not be ready to commit to a class. So, pop in, enjoy the fun, and be a part of the Kernewek revival.

Specialist in Cornish Mining Migration, Dr Sharon P Shwartz, is set to give a fascinating talk about the first Cornish mineworkers to arrive in Real del Monte and Pachuca Mexico. This event is set to be a remarkable journey through 200 years of fascinating history and heritage.

Gala Concert
Friday 20th September
Continue the day’s celebrations of the International Mining and Pasty Festival into the evening with this Gala Concert. Featuring Four Lanes Male Voice Choir, barbershop quartet The Buccas Four, and acclaimed Mexican guitarist Raul Salvador Ruiz Rangel this event celebrates the Cornish Mexican connections through music.

Redruth International Mining and Pasty Festival
Friday 20th September – Saturday 21st September
The International Mining & Pasty Festival returns!
This year is a particularly special occasion because we are celebrating 200 years of Cornish Mining in our twin town Real Del Monte in Mexico.
The festival commences with a Mining Pilgrimage, then the engine house stacks are smoked once again at Wheal Uny to honour Miners both from Cornwall and Abroad.
Have a family Pasty recipe you think is unbeatable? Or do you like to defy tradition in pursuit of new flavour combinations?
On Saturday we celebrate the Cornish Pasty with a whole host of competitions, alongside the market and other live music and entertainment happening throughout the day.

The long-awaited opening of the Buttermarket is happening this month!
Do you have room for a second helping of fun after the International Mining and Pasty Festival? Grab your finest Cornish Tartan and join in for an evening that promises to be filled with raucous Cornish revelry.

Harbour Festival Redruth
Sunday 22nd September – Sunday 29th September 2024
Set to embody the welcoming spirit of Cornwall, Harbour Festival will celebrate the stories of sanctuary and the journeys that brought people to Cornwall. Companies visiting from Belgium, Ukraine, Norway, Wales and Cornwall, will perform a programme of theatre, dance, circus and music for all ages held across multiple venues in the centre of Redruth.
Tickets cost £5 – £15 depending on the show.
