Last month on January 21st, the UK celebrated Red Squirrel Appreciation Day. Red squirrels are classified as ‘Endangered’ across England and Wales with a total wild population of less than 287,000 across the UK.
Redruth will be home to Marc Craig’s Red Squirrel mural, part of the Ark of Extinction street art project, which aims to use street art to highlight endangered species. The image below shows a concept of what the mural will look like. However, you won’t have to wait long to see the real thing in the Market Strand alcove. Marc Craig will reveal the mural at the St Piran’s Festival on Saturday, 1st March.

To accompany the mural, Redruth Town Council teamed up with a range of local artists to create a Red Squirrel Trail running throughout the town. The trail will also form part of many exciting activities at this year’s St Piran’s Festival.
