Meet the maker – Elmaray

Named using a combination of her daughter’s names Eleanore Marie and Elisya May, Elmaray is a local jewellery business owned by Kim Wells.

After becoming a mum Kim discovered that she enjoyed making jewellery as a hobby and her business grew from there. Initially starting out making beaded jewellery once Kim discovered silversmithing she never looked back. Now she makes beautiful handmade personalized gifts and jewellery using the traditional silversmithing techniques that she taught herself to do.

Predominantly made from 100% recycled sterling silver all of Kim’s products can be completely personalised making each piece unique. Some of her most popular items include keyrings, bracelets, and necklaces with personalised messages for the recipient.

I love making personalised items. It’s wonderful being able to provide people with special items to gift and receive.

As well as her personalised pieces Kim also has a range of products with her own designs and messages. Taking a new idea and making it into an end product can take a while to develop. From perfecting each design to testing the products to make sure they’re long-lasting, Kim ensures every detail is just right before adding a new piece to her collection.

So, what’s next for Elmaray? Kim recently started running workshops for people who want to create their own personalized jewellery. Moving into the New Year Kim plans to run more workshops teaching students how to make individual items using a combination of traditional and modern silversmithing techniques.

Although the Redruth Town Markets won’t be returning until 4th of march you can still check out Kim’s jewellery via her Etsy Shop.
