Its Christmas! (Nearly) what a fantastic month we’ve had here in Redruth making the most of the first ‘normal’ Christmas in 3 years. The Engagement team at Redruth town council organised a series of 4 special Saturdays for everyone to join. The month of festive Saturdays began on November 26th with the popular Christmas light switch on event; whilst thwarted slightly by torrential rain and wind the day was still access. Redruth Town Market took place, all moving undercover in the Buttermarket and Market Hall, followed by carols from the Redruth Carol Choir, the Redruth Wassail and Mummers Play. Special guests- Father Christmas, Chris Hailey from the Redruth Charity Trust and members of the girls under 14’s Rugby Club switched on the Christmas lights from the comfort of Santas sleigh in Redruth Library.
Our next Festive Saturday had a lovely festive market, a free tree giveaway with Forest for Cornwall at Redruth Community Centre, Redruth Town Band played a festive delight of carols in town and the Winter Woodland Grotto opened.
Saturday 10th December was a wonderfully crisp (and cold!) winters day, perfect for the rescheduled lantern display and a Yuletide Celebration at Kresen Kernow, Redruth Festival Band led the way with their marching band, many songs were sung. Redruth Library continued with their weekly Festive stories for all to hear and many crafting activities to enjoy.
The final festive Saturday saw our favourite local circus performers Hotch Potch bring the Polar Explorer and Holly the hula hooper to town for a delight of entertainment for Redruth’s Christmas shoppers.
Put these dates in your diary for next year and join us for another fab year in Redruth in 2023!
