The Specsavers Redruth Local Hero Awards are back!

Redruth is more than just a place; it’s a community built on compassion, collaboration, and care. The Local Hero Awards aims to spotlight those who embody these values. From supporting local businesses to volunteering their time, our heroes make Redruth a better place for us all. So, if you have made a difference to our community, or know someone who has, enter the Redruth Local Hero Awards.

Good Neighbour Award

Sponsored by The Penventon Park Hotel

Volunteer of the year

Sponsored by Premier Contractors Ltd

Our community has a vast army of volunteers who contribute in various ways, from working in shops and assisting at the food bank to caring for others and helping manage key local organisations. They truly deserve recognition, and we want to celebrate a volunteer who has excelled in dedicating their time to our community.

Young person of the year

Sponsored by Camborne and Redruth Lions

Young people represent the future of our town and many within our community
accomplish remarkable things. This award recognises the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals under the age of 25. This could include young
fundraisers, caregivers, climate change advocates, those who have overcome adversity, or anyone striving to make a positive difference.

Best Community project

Sponsored by Thurstan Hoskin Solicitors

The Best Community Project Award aims to celebrate charities, CICs, businesses,
community groups, and local residents’ led projects that strive to bring about positive change, foster connections, and enhance the quality of life for our community.

Best new local business

Sponsored by Specsavers Redruth

We want to recognise a new business that has started trading in the last 12 months in Redruth. Launching a new business is a significant undertaking at any time, but it is especially challenging now. Whether large or small, and regardless of the industry, we want to recognise those who have taken the leap to establish something new in our community.

Best green business

Sponsored by Redruth District Chamber of Commerce

This award will be given to a Redruth business which has taken steps to reduce its
environmental impact or its carbon footprint. This might be investing in renewable
energy options, going electric for transport or striving for plastic free status. The business can be operating in any industry but must demonstrate that it has environmental responsibility at its heart.

Environment & Climate Change Hero

Climate change is high on our agenda and this award will recognise an individual or group that has taken significant steps to reduce their own climate impact, campaigned to combat climate change, or helped the community understand what actions need to be taken to create a positive change.

Employee of the year

Sponsored by Skylite Associates

Redruth has many dedicated and hardworking employees across various industries and organisations. This award aims to celebrate an individual who embodies the company’s values, works hard, maintains a positive attitude in the workplace, and goes above and beyond for both staff and customers.
